15th July

Baby season is here – over the last few days our Bat Rooost Volunteers have returned many babies back to their roosts like these in the picture, taken today…

15th July – Our newly discovered Daubenton’s roost had around 12 bats in when we visited – some of them were clearly juveniles, although there were less adults than the last count, it was still great to see that they have successfully bred.

Daubenton's bats

19th June – Wigan Flashes Survey tonight, back tracking the noctules…

31st May

We have the results back for the DNA analysis from the droppings collected on the recent canoe survey, and we have found a new Daubenton’s roost. A few of us will have a look this weekend to see how many we have – watch the Facebook group for details…

Also

Last night we took 10 members to North Wales to help with the Lesser Horsehoe counts and had some great displays – some roosts had over 400 bats in residence! A very pleasant evening.

Events this extended weekend…  Bat Detector Workshop 2nd June, Meeting 5th June, Greenmout Show 5th June, Burrs Survey 5th June… see you there

7th May, 2012

Great show at the opening of the Woolfold Gap Bridge yesterday, we got on the radio see http://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/episode/p00rbbpb/Andy_Crane_07_05_2012/ at 3 hrs 52 mins in to listen. We did a couple of bat talks and pormoted our upcoming walks in the Kirklees Valley.
